As of today you are no longer allowed to talk on your cellphone while driving.
Unless its handsfree.
Ontario's new law banning handheld cellphone behind the wheel came into effect as of early this morning.
There is, however, a 3-month education period in which police will be giving out warning.
BUT Sergeant Tom O'Brien, tells Newstalk 1290, this doesn't mean police can't lay other charges if your busted with a cell in your hand.
O'Brien says if you don't have bluetooth or other handsfree technology you should shut off your phone while driving.
