A day after his members rejected the LTC's final offer, the head of the Amalgamated Transit Union says he wants to get back to the bargaining table.

Pat Hunniford says he wants to find a resolution to end the strike and plans on contacting the mediator today.

But he also says it may be time to change the structure of the LTC.

Hunniford tells NewsTalk 1290, the answer may be to get of the commission and make public transit a department of city hall.

Yesterday union members voted 78.5 percent against the latest offer from the LTC.

The deal would have seen bus drivers and mechanics get a 10.3 percent increase in wages and benefits over three years.

London is now into its fourth week of the transit strike.
