It exactly the trend London's mayor has been hoping for.

According to StatsCanada, the local economy created about 46-hundred jobs in December.

That lead to a drop in the local unemployment rate to an even 9 percent....from November's 9.9 percent.

Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco-Best tells Newstalk 1290, jobless figures show things are getting better.

But nationally, it's a different story.

Statistics Canada reports job creation stalled last month.

Overall, 26-hundred fewer Canadians were employed in December.

Analysts had been hoping to see the addition of 20-thousand jobs.

December unemployment was unchanged from November at 8.5 percent.
